Privacy Policy

What we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Effective May 18, 2026.

1. Who we are

Blackthorne Golf Club (“Blackthorne,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at blackthornegolfclub.com and the golf course located at 9001 Kapalua Lane, Jeannette, PA 15644. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website or book a tee time, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

We only collect information you give us when you interact with our site — primarily when you book a tee time, sign up for a club event, or contact us. We do not buy personal data from third parties.

  • Booking information: name, phone number, email address, requested date and tee time, holes (9 or 18), number of players and non-playing riders, optional notes, and any rain-voucher code you redeem.

  • Communication preferences: whether you have opted in or out of SMS messages and which phone number you opted in with.

  • Operational records on the day of your round: which golf cart number(s) your group used, recorded by on-site staff for accountability.

  • Event sign-ups: any information you submit through optional event sign-up forms (typically name, contact details, and event-specific answers).

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, if you choose to subscribe.

  • Technical information: basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) created automatically when you load the site. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you provide only for the purposes you would reasonably expect from a golf club:

  • Confirming, modifying, and fulfilling your tee-time booking.

  • Sending you a booking confirmation email and SMS receipt at the time of booking.

  • Sending you a single reminder SMS shortly before your tee time (lead time configurable by club management, typically 15–30 minutes ahead).

  • Letting our on-course staff know you are arriving, so they can assign and track the golf cart(s) used by your group.

  • Issuing and validating rain vouchers when a round is cancelled for weather.

  • Sending the club newsletter if you subscribed.

  • Responding to your questions when you contact us by phone or email.

  • Operating, securing, and improving the website.

4. SMS / Text messaging

Blackthorne sends short text messages from a dedicated number registered to our club through Telnyx, our SMS provider.

You may opt in to receive SMS booking confirmations, pre-tee-time reminders, and other operational messages from Blackthorne Golf Club by checking the SMS-consent checkbox on the booking form and providing a mobile phone number. The checkbox is unchecked by default — you must affirmatively check it to opt in. Consent is not a condition of purchase: you can complete a tee-time booking without opting in to SMS, in which case we will reach you by email and (if necessary) by voice call only.

Message frequency varies but is normally 2–3 messages per booking. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. Reply STOP to any of our messages to opt out at any time; reply HELP for help, or contact us directly at the phone number or email below.

Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Phone numbers are only shared with our SMS carrier (Telnyx) and the underlying mobile carriers strictly to deliver the messages you have consented to.

Staff phone numbers added to our internal notification list by club management receive operational coordination messages (booking alerts, pre-tee-time reminders, cart assignment prompts). Staff members provide verbal consent to the club to receive these messages before being added to the list, and may be removed at any time.

5. Email

Booking confirmations and operational emails are sent through Resend, our email delivery provider. Newsletter emails are sent to subscribers who explicitly opted in. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link; transactional emails (such as booking confirmations) are not subject to unsubscribe because they are required to deliver the service you booked.

6. How we share information

We share information only with the small number of service providers required to run the website and deliver the services you requested:

  • Telnyx — SMS delivery (phone number, message body).

  • Resend — transactional email and newsletter delivery (name, email address).

  • Cloudflare R2 — storage for booking records, course documents, and uploaded photos.

  • Coolify (our hosting platform) and the underlying server provider — standard server logs.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share SMS opt-in data with any third party for marketing.

We may disclose information when required by law, when responding to a lawful subpoena, or when necessary to protect the safety of our staff, members, or guests.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep booking records for as long as needed for operations, accounting, and dispute resolution — typically the current and prior golf season. Cart-assignment logs are kept for the same period to support cart-damage accountability. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a short rolling window. You can request earlier deletion of your records by contacting us (see Section 10).

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including HTTPS in transit, hashed/encrypted credentials, and access controls on our admin portal. No internet service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take reasonable care to protect the information you give us.

9. Children

Our website is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Tee-time bookings made on behalf of minors must be submitted by a parent, guardian, or accompanying adult using their own contact information.

10. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP to any of our texts.

  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.

  • Ask us what information we have about you, request a copy, or ask us to delete it by emailing [email protected].

  • Update inaccurate contact details by calling us at (724) 325-2052.

11. Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies (for example, the secure session cookie used by club staff to log in to the admin portal). We do not use advertising cookies and do not load third-party analytics or social-media trackers on our public pages.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted at this URL with the effective date at the top updated accordingly. The policy was last updated on May 18, 2026.
